1975: Graduated B.Sc. in Physics, Victoria University of Wellington.

1977: Graduated B.Sc. (hons) in Information Science, Victoria University of Wellington.

1978-1984: Systems Programmer, Computing Services Centre, Victoria University of Wellington.

  • Managed systems used for undergraduate teaching.
  • System Manager of New Zealand's first VAX computer (from May 1979).

1984-1987: Senior Systems Programmer, New Zealand Forest Service.

  • Part of the team implementing the NZFS nationwide network.

1987-1988: Operations Manager, New Zealand Forestry Corporation.

1988-1992: Operations Manager, Computertime Ltd.

  • Operational responsibility for Forestry Corporation Facilities Management contract, including:
    • responsibility for all computer systems
    • responsibility for nationwide network connecting more than 50 sites.
  • Successfully interfaced a satellite ground station to a VAX computer system, for capturing satellite imagery.

1992-2003: Shareholder/Director/Consultant, Quorum Computing Limited

  • Facilities Management for several clients, including:
    • OpenVMS, AIX and Open Source system management.
    • Oracle and Rdb DBA
  • Software development in Pascal, Fortran, TPU, C, Perl, DCL and shell scripting.
  • Extensive Y2K testing and remedial coding.

2003-present: Shareholder/Director/Consultant, Knossos Networks Limited.
