snmpacc: SNMP accounting data collection package

Contents Next >>

1. Introduction

snmpacc is a data collection and reduction tool for SNMP traffic data to be collected for purposes such as charging, traffic analysis and capacity planning.

snmpacc consists of two main parts, a collector which regularly polls the devices being monitored, and checks for configuration changes, and a merging program which takes data emitted by collectors, checks for inconsistencies and outputs summarised data.

The package supports 32 and 64 bit counters, and can use either SNMP version 1 or 2c.

snmpacc utilises the Net-SNMP package to perform actual collection of data.

The package runs on BSD or Linux on the i386 architecture. The merge process has also been developed to run on Sun Ultra systems running Solaris.
